VISION SCREENING & HEALTH EXPO
Every year, RCN conducts Vision Screening for kids. Begun in 2012, it was initially a project held at Stephen Dillett Primary school in Nassau. Each time, we screened over 100 pupils, many of whom were found to have very defective eyesight. This can impair their ability to learn, their interactions in class and their overall behaviour. During these sessions we also tested for glucose levels and found several persons who needed immediate help.
In recent years, we have expanded the programme to include Family Island communities. We have held the Expo on Long Island, Exuma, Cat Island and Inagua (where the team was stranded by a hurricane!). In 2025, the team visited Andros. The Expo also now includes dental, hearing and vision screening; blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol testing.
CHRISTMAS MORNING FEEDING PROGRAMME
Members gather on Christmas morning to distribute food to needy residents in Fox Hill and Grants Town. Everyone who participates agrees that is a never to be forgotten experience. Club members sing Christmas carols and families are gifted with pans of traditional Christmas fare, which is always enthusiastically received! We even bring food for the family dogs!
